Default Steelheading coming to an end... but before I go...

I haven't posted on here in a while. I have been busy combing streams and rivers looking for dropbacks. Before they cut redds, I had my best day ever on the fly for steelhead, 7 for 13. 5 on stonefly nymphs and 2 on an egg pattern I tie.

2012 has been, by far, my best year on the fly... so far. I posted the pictures of the 7 I caught on 04-01-12 and a video of a large male finally coming off.

[/COLOR]If it's not too much trouble... I'm curious to hear how everyone's season was around the Great Lakes.

I'm not a huge steelhead guy, but I did fish the Pere Marquette twice this winter/spring. I didn't catch any steelhead, but did land a few browns around this size. Nice looking fish you caught this spring!

Wonderful pictures! I'm in Michigan too, although just a beginner. Could you pm me a phone number? I might like to take a guided trip.

Thanks for the link!

I fished the rock river for carp once, it was above the dam, lots of small carp there if my memory is correct?

I just started fly fishing in March. Scored my first steelie around march 20, all in total so far this year I've landed 9 and lost 5 or 6. A little slower of a season but I've been fishing new water for most of the year, Since I've moved from L'Anse to Marquette.

I have been fly fishing for steel for 2 seasons and have not caught any. But I am not going to give up. Just have to time it better. Great picks. I do better with trout.

I honestly didn't bother with the lakeruns this season I messed around in fall a bit but couldn't get into it. Its too much of a circus around here. Maybe next fall I might get into it a bit more but I might have to find new waters with less crowds.
