Dupage River Grand Slam!!!!

I went out this morning and enjoyed a new section of the Dupage river in Plainfield, IL. I caught these on a new crayfish pattern I have been experimenting with. One Chubby, little Rock Bass and a beautiful Smallie that felt like a ton of bricks on my line. I had a great day on the river chasing these early spring fish.

Thanks, the Dupage river is amazing. Especially once it warms up a little more its hard to keep the smallies off your line. Right now it is still slow but the fishing is always great a very safe wadable river. I have even heard of the occasional walleye and pike being pulled out.

Have you ever caught either of them fly fishing?

Ill start out saying "not yet!" I have only heard of two walleyes and one pike being caught in my area of the dupage unfortunately, none of these fish were mine. The walleyes were on the fly the pike was spinning gear. I have only seen one pike in the river. And ill be honest and say when I saw it I thought it was a tree branch suspended in really shallow water. It wasn't until I thought it might be a fish and tossed a fly over his back when it took off, to my disbelief.

I have been wanting to go after them for a while but haven't seen many in my home stretch. Any pointers an expert walleye and pike guy would like to give an addicted rookie I'm here listening.

Pkins...... nice.....

I also fish that water often, we might have even purchased our setups from the same sales guy..... as I can duplicate your pic, but...(with a smaller sized fish) :) . Is that by chance a Rio Line? No pike or walleye from me.......heard susceptible interpreted stories, never seen any proof.

Regardless, (Smalies, Large-mouths, Carp, Gills... Chubs, Cats.... what am I forgetting.) A few hours after a long day at work, this river is what helps keep me stable!

Personally, Just about every aspect of fishing in this area I feel has declined since I was a child. Smallmouth river fishing, I think has improved.
