Stillwater Trout Fishing the Region?

Hello

I went on a short tour of the Western US last year and was lucky enough to cast flies in a lot of great places. One of the highlights was wade-fishing a long the shore of a lake near Bend, OR. I loved watching the violent takes on calm water and the sizable fish weren't bad either.

Are there any such opportunities in the region? How about Minnesota or Wisconsin? I'm in northeastern IL and have only fly fished the driftless in Wisconsin a couple of times. I still have a flats boat from when I lived in FL. I think it would be a great platform to go after trout on lakes and ponds.

Thanks

Riffle: Welcome to the forum! I have some very good friends from my Air Force days that live in Bend, OR, they don't fish, but that sure is a beautiful part of the country. I can't help with info on lakes in your area, but I'm sure others can point you in the right direction. I would think that flats boat would work beautifully, best of luck.

There's some good fishing on Northern Wisconsin spring ponds for brookies if you're willing to explore and walk a little bit. Try some ponds in Langlade County if you're willing to make the trip.
