Default The Black River U.P?

I will be moving up to the U.P in a few weeks and was wondering how the fishing was on the Black River? Just wondering what species are present and what I can expect in terms of fishing pressure and fishing access?

Thanks!

Fantastic Brook Trout to start with. Lucky you. Ton's of back country where you will be alone.

If you mean the one in Mackinac County feeding Lake Michigan it's good enough fishing that it was well described in a book I have....Post here if so, and I'll post a map here and some detailed descriptions.

Trouble is, there are a bunch of Black Rivers....This one is 5mi. E. of Naubinway.

Ah, well I'll look in some of my other books for that one. Give me a couple of days as I'm soon into Turkey hunting.

Its the Black River that's in Gogebic County. I should have been more specific. I know there are a lot of Black Rivers. I grew up fishing the Black River in central Wisconsin that flows into the Mississippi. That is more or less why I am asking here as there isn't too much out on the web about the Black river in Gogebic County. Thanks for all the replies. I'm looking forward to getting up there and finding some good fly fishing.

There is actually quite a bit...Do a "Google" search for "Fishing Black River Gogebic County". Here is just a first glance at the results I found:

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/dn...7_227255_7.pdf

DNR - Inland Trout and Salmon Regulations and Maps

DNR - Maps

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/dnr/17_416002_7.pdf

http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/spatialda...gebic_topo.htm

http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/spatialda...VER_HARBOR.pdf

http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/spatialda...H_IRONWOOD.pdf

(using those last 3, keep referring to the first, and click on links to get you the various topos for the entire river system of the Black).
