Default Traverse City, Michigan Guides??

Going to be in Traverse City during the last week of June. Am wanting to go on a guided day trip while up there. Would really like to go for trout but I've heard that its suppose to be great for smallies and carp right now.. Any suggestions on where to look for a guide service?

There is an Orvis shop in downtown Traverse, and also I believe out at the big resort in Acme. Are you looking for a trout guide or smallies and carp on the bay? If you're willing to drive a little ways there are a number of shops in Grayling that have great guide service.

Hi alcorn,

There are two shops in Traverse City that offer guide service, I own one of them, The Northern Angler at 803 W Front St in TC, the Orvis shop is no longer in Acme at the resort, they are in downtown TC
The carp are in the bay right now and will be through June and into mid July, the smallies will be showing up soon in the shallows but it has been a cool spring so far. The trout fishing up here in late June can be fantastic and the cool thing is that the best time to fish carp and bass in the bay is late morn thru late afternoon and the best time for the trout is evening into the night so you can hit the prime time for both without overlapping. Makes for a long day, but worth it. I don't want to abuse the forum to advertise but if you want some more info about the shop, check out www.thenorthernangler.com
Traverse City in June is a sweet place to visit! Feel free to contact us with any questions fishing related or otherwise. Kirk
