Anglers workshop in Washington has the best cork I have seen and I build rods. It is kinda spendy though. This is the cork I put on my 15" spey rod. No fill, just the naked cork in all it's glory.

Nice work, FlyGal!!!! I bought my first bamboo rod from Lew Parks (Saginaw,
Michigan) abotu a year ago. He uses 1/4 thick cork rings, and the results
are blemish-free grips.

Hook&Hackle carries cane blanks now, and the U.S. made blanks are around
$275. Lots of other U.S. builders offer blanks in the $400 range, and I've
been seriously tempted many times.....
