As you can see I'm anything but traditional, I'm not a fan of the slip lock reel seats, I prefer the up-locking threaded. I went on the cheaper end for all the components for my first. Will be doing more next winter for sure...It's as addictive as fishing. Especially turning the grip. :icon_bigg

How does one seek out and find a qualified "Boo" Craftsman?

I've done my own graphite rods for years, don't remember the last rod I purchased complete.
I would love to find someone to show me how to craft a "Boo".

Boo blanks, really? I assumed that you had to go all the way to the raw material, which really sounds like a hoot.
I would be willing to go with a blank. How do you know what your getting with a boo blank as far as feel and action?

Each blank is tapered (the rod above is a Payne taper) and plained to behave a certain way within loose peramiters.

A rod builder friend from Idaho convinced me to try this china blank he said was great for the beginner rod builder. This being my first project I jumped at it. So I purchased the blank from him, but do a google search on bamboo blanks and you will be surprised at how many are available.

Looks like your work season is slow to get going too, I'm doing some Spring cleanups and aerating, started making phone calls to re-up last years customers yesterday.

LOL, I have five feet of snow on the ground - can't do a whole lot of cleaning up yet....I do have the greenhouse going with my wintered over tubers & seedlings...
