Default Weather Rant

This morning driving to work before 7:00 AM, I heard the radio announcing the forecast, calling for the following, in order:
  • High UV Index warning, with temps in the low single digits Celcius
  • Winds changing to easterly (which means off the North Atlantic, and I look at the ocean from work). This means cold and damp.
  • Flurries beginning shortly after, changing to freezing rain (amounts to 5 mm) and then to rain, drizzle and fog mixed, all the while with winds gusting to 80 kms / hr
  • Changing to steady rain overnight with probable thunder showers.
  • Warming to 10 Deg C by morning, with periods of rain, drizzle and fog and temps to 12 through the weekend with gusty winds.

I think even the fish are sick of wet cold weather, it's been like this since January. The season for sea trout has been open since February 01st, and I haven't tried to drown a fly yet. If patterns follow, by late July, Salmon rivers will be closed because of low water. No happy meduim here.

[rant off[x], stepping off my soap box.

So, how's the weather where you are?

Jamie: I understand the frustration, it has been a long cold winter here and everyone is looking for warmer wx. I went fishing last weekend and the temps were mostly in the high 30's with a 30 mph west wind, we battled ice in the guides all day. I had everything on I owned and was still chilled, but at least I was out fishing!

It actually hit 80 degrees here in Southern Oregon (back to normal suckie weather tomorrow). Last time we had an 80 was back in early October of 2010.
