I know that you guys will answer this so here goes; what is a good (basic) photo editing software for me? I have the original Nikon Picture Project program that came with my camera but it will not help when there is something I need to erase. Sometimes I take a great shot only to discover that there was some sort of jive stuck to my lens / filter / or whatever and the shot needs work.

I need something that is affordable, easy to learn, and will allow me to remove unwanted 'jive' from a photo when need be.

Thanks,

Ard

photoshop will of course do this, but it is expensive. Photoshop elements (the healing brush) should also accomodate your need and it is much cheaper around $100, sometimes you can get it free when you buy a photo printer, if you are in the market.

X2 on the PS Elements. The healing brush tool is what I used on your full moon shots Ard.

Come to think of it Dave my old Hp Photosmart is becoming hard to find Ink for. Do you have any idea which printers offer the package?

Is there a good (affordable) large format photo printer on the market?

I got a hell of a deal on an Epson 9500 large format printer on Craig's List here in the Springs. It will print up on a variety of media including canvas up to 44" wide and came with a Mac computer loaded with PS 7 and Illustrator for $600.
You need to be careful using Craig's List though, since you never know the real reason a person is selling their stuff.
Research the Epson 1400. It will print up to 13x19. You can probably find one used for about $200+.

That's what I'm talking about Bob! I have some pictures that sure would be nice if I were to set myself up with a mat cutter and use my router for making something other than base board and trim. I will start looking for one of these.

I did find a Photo Shop Elements 9 program. Is this something that would have the "healing brush" in it?

Elements 9 would have the healing brush, if I'm not mistaken.

Okay Ard,
Thanks for the instructions to upload an image. The major problem I had was the image size.
As you can see in this image of the green buzzer I tied, the problem is the depth of field. the wire windings are in focus (pretty much). The eye and the barb are not. I think it is a matter of using f22, like in your photos.

Would you agree?

Dave
