Smile Tomorrow is an Anniversary of Sorts!

I will be away tomorrow so I thought to post this today, tomorrow will mark 4 years since I registered here on the forum as a member. I can't express how valuable it has been especially in the heart of winter to have a forum where I could find like minded people to chat with.

I had lived and worked in other states than my home (Pennsylvania) over the years including here in Alaska but in 2004 I sold everything and moved away for good. What that meant was leaving rivers, creeks, and people that it took a lifetime to get to know behind. Here I did 2 things, work and fish and had no actual social life to speak of. That left me with 0 on the lifelong friends list and feeling pretty alone. In late 2005 I met my wife Nancy while on a job and that went a long way toward removing the loneliness but I longed for my old fishing buddy still.

Steve never made the trip and he may never make it but here I found some friends and I believe some of you will make it to Alaska one day. If you do I'll be here and although I am not the best fish catcher in Alaska I will help you find some sporting opportunity if you ask. I just want to thank everyone who has ever ask a question that I tried to answer, all those who took time to send me a message, and especially Frank Whiton who has made me feel at home here. All the rest of you folks know who you are and know the list is too long for me to start but...............

Thank you for being here,

Ard

Ard: Happy Anniversary! I too feel like I have met a true friend in YOU! Thank you for all that you have contributed to the forum, the great stories, and great Alaskan photography, it goes a long way in helping me remember the adventures I experienced while in Alaska and hopefully I will get up there to fish with you sometime in the future!

It's been our pleasure Ard. I kinda wish you hadn't left PA, we could have got together for some wild brookie chasing; definitely my favorite way to pass a day. I'm like you, I've spent alot of cold days online instead of on the stream. The closest I got was Glacier National Park 2 years ago; I had a 17 day vacation and we had contemplated making the drive to Alaska, but Ohio to Alaska and back in 17 days still seemed a bit much. Hope you are ready for the winter, keep safe and warm Ard.
