Best place to go camping and fishing near Kansas
Here recently I was reading the field and stream about trout fishing in Durango Colorado. Basically you get dropped off in the woods, and go camping hiking and fishing for a couple days then get picked up again.
This would be a 15 hour trip form my home in Kansas. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place closer to Kansas that would be something like this. I don't want a guided trip for a couple of reasons. One being I would like to plan my own, and I do not wish to pay for it lol.

The White River area in northern Arkansas sounds like it would be a much shorter drive for you. There also is some good fishing in southern missouri. the guys at Feather Craft could help out with that.
