That is insane! What created those conditions - it must have been pure ice under the snow? Under the very wet, slushy snow. We had a bug dump here the same day and we were pushing cars out of intersections but it was just little 2 front wheel drive roller skates stuck in deep un-plowed snow ruts. These people are complete morons!!

The slo-mo slides are entertaining but when you see some jackass coming down that street going 25 mph...wow! Scarey!!

Scary is right word.I cant believe that all of those drivers continue to drive even when they realize that they cant control their own cars.Unbelievable

Police aren't dumb enough to go drive around in that!

There would nothing for the cops to do at that point. A storm like that hits fast and most of those people out driving were probably already on the road when they realized the problem.

Now the folks trying to pass around the car in front of them that is helicoptering while cars are on coming...that guy deserved to his the snowplow!

A few years ago there was a car coming up on me so fast (in a snow storm) that when he pulled out to pass he was sideways. I looked out my left passenger window straight into his windshield. He slid and stopped in the center divider.
He passed me again 20 min later.

It starts raining. Then a cold front come in right on the tail. Next thing you know, it's freezing and snow on top.
Slippin' and a slidin', and playing dominos.
Leftin' and then rightin', it's not a crime you know.
And to get rid of the winter blues...

Mojo's spot on.
It rains, bringing surface temps down rapidly, making ice form even quicker when the temps drop with the coldfront and then the snow sticks immediately.

The past few years it seems the majority of our storms hit just before the morning commute....nothin' like a "commuter special". Yea, we have a name for em.
I'm so glad to not be doing snow removal anymore.

Good link, gotta love Neil Young.

Reminded me of the film from Seattle streets from a few years back. Like Rome, they have '7 hills' .... you can guess how that went.
