Re: Air New Zzz land, this just too cool Buckle up done a whole new way.
Many, many years back flying to NZ. First leg was to Hawaii, rest of the 18 hours was Air NZ. Best hours I've ever spent strapped into a seat.
Crew were well above a notch. Had to land-refuel in the middle of now-where, some Island (Yes, I know where) at 0200'ish.
'This is a small airport, but we have to be here. For the next three hours you will redefine I'm board to tears. The gift shop has all the normal **** that you'll walk around in and refuse to buy. But that's included in the price of your ticket. Don't worry about having your boarding pass on you if you chose to get off the airplane, we know who all of you are and there's no one else here.'
'This is xyz, at the moment you are exactly in the middle of no where.'
'You can follow our flight by looking on the screen. I just hope they're right. but it's time for dinner, here's what we have, what would you like? Last up the cart row will be limited, so we'll bring you an extra small bottle of wine for compensation.'
Other brilliant comments as we were coming in for landing on the North Island. 'Your Pilot is very good, the second seat is questionable. If we have a bumby landing that's because the tarmac came up to meet us; Number Two is in training. It's a hot day. A foot or two does make a difference. Thank you for flying Air New Zealand.'
Passiez applauded, hugged/hand shaked the crew as we left the air craft.
Is it like that anymore? I have no idea; with any airline?
