Animal Planet TV channel

Saw a show this evening about Bull sharks entering fresh water. Kinda freaky...gives a whole new meaning to wading possibly. Reports of them swimming as far as Michigan????:surprise:

Hi Mike,

One morning about 200 yards from the bay I was fishing in the faintest of early light, a huge spotted seal humped the surface a few feet in front of me. I'm sure you can imagine what I thought.

Most species of shark will leave people alone. Bull Sharks are not one of them though. They will put a hurt on you. :stretcher I had not heard the Midhigan one before, but it doesn't surprise me a whole lot. They have a serious tolerance for fresh water. There was a Bull Shark about 100 years ago on the East coast that killed a few people over a bit of time, all in fresh water fairly far from the sea. I have heard of them being caught in states without coastlines. The biggest one known to science was caught in freshwater in South Africa. They get aroumd.

This video went viral last year. It happened in an estuary near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Did they say what route it took to Michigan, if they could tell? Seen in a Great Lake or a river?

They find them in the Mississippi up by my every couple of years. A few years ago someone caught a 200-300 pound one about 40 minutes north of me, maybe only 20 river miles away, and Im almost 1000 miles from the delta.

Wow. So if they are seen in Michigan are they coming up the Mississippi and then into Lake Michigan? Does this mean they go through Chicago, is it a clean shot up? What do they have to navigate to get there? I'm not sure how many waterways connect the Mississippi to the Great Lakes.
