Never had the gumption to go into business for myself, just talk about it occassionally when the powers that be get on my nerves too much. I think I would like just cutting yards (I have high aspirations don't I ?) but you still have to talk to people occassionally, and ask that they pay you timely. Sheesh, I just can't win.

I do admire the ones who take that giant step and give being self employed a go. It takes a lot of nerve, and some tranqulizers, antiacid and anything else appropriate to survive.

With eggs , hash browns , rye toast and coffee! Seriously was a retail supermarket supervisor, specialty food broker and fishing guide. Retired now and wouldn't have it any other way!

After working for someone else for 25 years I put my house on the line borrowed some money I opened a plumbing and drain cleaning business in 2002. I have seven trucks on the road now and my debt has been paid off. The best part is my boss buys me lunch everyday and on a good day I can run the show from my skiff with a note pad and an iPhone. It has its peaks and valleys but I am glad I did it.

There's a lot of ups and downs but I've learned to take things in stride and stay calm (that's where fishing helps too)
Thanks for the encouragement. I just launched a small online shop yesterday. I will take it slow and reinvest what I make into new product. I'll take on risk through a couple different phases instead of going all in at once. I hope to have a brick and mortar sometime next year or 2015.

Lawyer. Hopefully soon retired so I can fish more.

The great Tom McGuane, when asked about the proliferation of fishing guides in his home state of Montana, said "A fly fisherman ought to have an honest job."
