I feel like I should be more technologically inclined, but alas, I am not. I bought one of these new fangled laptops for when I go back to school and it has a touch screen and windows 8. Is there anyway to shut off this stupid touch screen or keep it from going back to the app thing. I just want it to stay on the desktop, every time I move my hand wrong it like skips back over to the weather app.
No kidding, I can't stand those touch screens!......Everytime I touch the screen of my Commodore PET it gets smudges on it!
One day I'll upgrade to a 64.....but right now, that's just dreaming.
I know what those are, just have never seen one ha. I also didn't see my first computer until 2005, a year before I graduated high school, when our school finally got computers. I didn't own one until 2007 a few days before I left for Iraq the first time. This stuff is pretty new to me.
Thanks for the help guys, I've got it figured out pretty good how to stop it flipping out on me atleast. I just need it to run Microsoft office and internet and think I've been able to set that up.
I started with a Timex Sinclair 1000. We've come a long way.
I have a desktop and a laptop, but use my tablet almost exclusively. Once you get use to it, you'll like the touch screen. It's faster and easier. Give it a week or so, get comfortable with it, and you may not want to lock it out.
Either way, congrats on a new computer, and the decision to go back to school. That may get frustrating too. Keep your eyes on the prize. It will all be worth it.
My first "computer" was a Rockwell Scientific calculator (they were called computers back then), back when Rockwell was considered a leading high tech company around 1976......Big blue LED numerals, and if I recall correctly was something like $75.00 (a car payment or more).
Man was i the catz azz........until it was stolen a few months later.
