Default Favorite Movie

I got to watch one of my 2 favorite movies on TV last week. I've been fortunate to have spent a number of years in the Boy Scout program in a number of different positions. My favorite was as a scoutmaster. Every November, the troop would come to my house for popcorn, root beer floats, and to watch " Follow Me Boys ". A wonderful old Disney movie with a great cast.
Good Memories. Many of those boys are now grown men and have a copy of that movie to show their kids when they become scouts.
My other favorite is " Second Hand Lions ". It touches a lot of places in my mind, and my heart, and delivers a great message.
Neither one is a popular movie, or a classic, but both touch me and speak to me.
How about you ? Got a favorite or two ? Why are they your favorites ?

Follow Me Boys... must have seen it was I was pretty young, remembered the scene where Whitey's alcoholic father brought the melting ice cream. Such a sad scene. I had no idea where it was from, but the image stayed with me. Figured it out a couple years ago and bought the movie.

Yup, that was something that stuck with me, too. There was so much to remember and enjoy... I liked building of the camp mishaps, the boys capturing the soldiers, Lem trying to prove he was a scoutmaster, but could'nt tie a sheepshank, and of course, the parade.
Hard to believe Kurt Russell ( Whitey ) was ever that young !

Where the Red Fern Grows

Jeremiah Johnson - Robert Redford

The Sacket's - based on the Louis L'amour novel

Conagher - based on the Louis L'amour novel

Cross Fire Trail - based on the Louis L'amour novel

The Unforgiven - Clint Eastwood

Man on Fire - with Denzel Washington

And 'Spy Games' with Robert Redford isn't too bad either.

"A favorite or two . . . "

The Big Sleep. Bogart and Bacall at their best, a great and complicated plot, wonderful screenplay. The pinnacle of film noir.

The Thing From Another World. The best of the 1950's sci-fi films.

Oddly, or not, both are Howard Hawks films.
