Thanks Ard.

I have a seed tray hooked to my window at home. Ive got a couple branches screwed to it for some natural perches. Ive added a suet cage this year to attract more woodpeckers Ive got a sheet of black fabric stretched as a blind and to reduce glass reflection. Cut a lens hole in it and another peek hole just above the camera so i can see out there. The camera is a nikon D7000. I use 3 lenses. A f1.8, 35mm. A f2.8, 105mm macro. And a 18-270 telephoto. (My exif data says I was 260mm from the subject. Thats 10.2 inches from the lens to the bird ). These last pics were with the telephoto. I also use a tripod and a remote shutter release.

It occurs to me that I haven't posted a picture on this thread in almost a year. It's a shame because I always enjoy seeing all of your shots and now feel honor bound to reciprocate - to catch up. I've taken a lot of photos this year so, to keep this all under control, I challenged myself to pick only one (favorite) image per month to share.

So here goes:

January

Full moon through the bare trees out in our back woods.

February

Click the image to open in full size.

Musky flies (or drag queen garb, I'm not sure which) on Virginia's James River.

March

Click the image to open in full size.

Preparing for the arrival of Spring.

April

I spend a week in the Mexican Baja chasin' roosterfish and this is my favorite shot of the trip. Go figure.

May

Took a series of scenic shots in the Tenessee Smokey Mountain National Park, but this one makes me smile. Fly fishing's iconic brands - Orvis and PBR.

June

This is what a week in the Bahamas made me feel like. Pitching the cell phone and walking the sands. Oh, and catching some bonefish.

July

Okay, it's not a fishin' pic. But if you have a granddaughter, you understand.

August

Click the image to open in full size.

Bonding with the new skiff (and searchin' for a few redfish) on the North Carolina coastline.

September

Michigan spring creeks. Can't say no more.

October

Seriously?

Can't wait to see what November and December bring. Happy shooting!

Mike

Added later:

November

Autumn in a single leaf, and reflections...

December

Far out of this southern boy's comfort zone... Chicago on Christmas.

Hope you enjoyed these. I encourage everyone to wander back through their piles of pics and select their favorite from each month. Share them here or simply relive the year through the images.

Happy New Year!

Mike

Mike: Great work with the camera! My favorite was the moon shot and then the bonding with the skiff was a close second.
