Hey Culley welcome to the forum-- we do have a few folks out your way - a lot of them fish the Truckee. Hopefully you'll run into a few of them

Feel free to share your adventures and ask questions if you have any-- lots of helpful folks here.

Culley, There are a few guys near you. You might also want to check on clubs. Near you is the Truckee River Fly Fishers, Reno, Nevada. From all I've heard they are a great club. Matter of fact I believe the club I belong to, California Fly Fishers Unlimited, has done some things with them. Also you have an excellent Trout Unlimited Chapter up that way. I'd also suggest going into Any Burk's West River Fly Shop on West River Road in Truckee. Between here and those resources you should be able to learn to fly fish faster than the average person.

Joining the Truckee River Fly Fishers will shorten your learning curve immensely as they offer classes that teach everything regarding fly fishing.

Also check out the Truckee River thread several of the Truckee and Reno area guys frequent that thread.

Attention New Fly Fishers and those just wanting to improve- Join a Fly Fishing Club. They have classes on every aspect of fly fishing for beginners to advanced for free or cheaper than offered elsewhere. Some offer mentor programs. You will make friends with other fly fishers. Clubs often have outings in which members pay special group rates for guides or to fish prime private access areas.
