Default Howdy!!

Hello all. Nice site, I just found it. Love to talk fly fishing. This should be fun and educational I am sure. I will try to put my view in on a few things. I have fished all of my life, flyfishing and tying for 15 years. Grew up in OK and headed to ID for the hunting and fishing about 12 years ago. I am definatly not sorry. Best fishes!!!

Welcome! So do you live in Idaho now? Tell us a little more about you, like gear, type of fishing, etc.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.

Yes, I live in Pocatello, ID now. I think you probably drove through my lovely town on your way to the warm water spring fed lake you fished a week or so ago. I could be wrong.I fish for just about anything that swims. I fish my local waters all the way up to and including Yellowstone 60 to 70 days per year (darn kids slowed me down). I also usually do 1-2 saltwater trips per year, mostly Florida, Tampa and south and several steelhead trips. I did just get back from the Yucatan 2 weeks ago. When we got back I told my wife we were most likely going to go broke bonefishing. What a cool fish, we had a blast. Just got my conformation from my guide in FL today for my dates in june for big tarpon. I can't wait. I've been on 8 guided tarpon days so far and still do not have my photo with the big ****. Hooked many, including a few good ones. Had a huge hammerhead eat my 130 lber at the boat and landed a couple of 30 to 50 lbers. It is going to happen this year darnnit.I als tie quite a bit. I tie from trico to poppers. Deer hair is my specialty, and is what I usually tie at shows. Here is a marlin that I tied and would love as my avatar (hint, hint) but I aint that smart.

My best efforts at spinning hair come no where cose to your examples there. The Mini-Marlin is expecially impressive. -------------------------------------------------------------- PS- You may have to shrink down that pic of the marlin for it to work as an avatar, or maybe there's no more limits like that any longer.
