Default Hello from Sidney Nebraska

I have lived in the home of Cabela's (Sidney Nebraska) for all of my life. This small town of ~6500 people resides 15 miles north of the Colorado border and 50 east of the Wyoming border. I am relatively new to fly fishing but have been a conventional fisherman for many years. It may seem odd, but I have never really ventured out of the state to go fishing, if anybody could recommend some small streams or large rivers outside of the state that aren't too far away I would greatly appreciate it. I frequently go to the Cheyenne Wyoming and Fort Collins Colorado areas, so anywhere near there would be fine by me. Recently I have been fishing the North Platte River spillway east of Lake McConaughy and the Nebraska Public Power District Canal, the fishing is great (many rainbows over 22 inches!) but I would like a change in scenery.

Thanks for having me on the forum,
Chase

Chase: Welcome to the forum! The Snowies west of Laramie have some really nice streams and the North Platte from the Colorado boarder to Saratoga also has some great fishing and the scenary is completely different than what the lower North Platte looks like. Have you tried the Poudre along hwy 14 just north of Ft Collins or the Big Thompson just east of Estes Park or possible RMNP.

Welcome aboard from an american living in england who used to live in eastern South Dakota. Sounds like a lovely area to fish-only wish I had your problem as fishing here in the uk is far different to what you,re used to. Enjoy the forum and the chat.

Welcome Chase, ever consider the Black Hills? Probably not that far from you. I have not fished there myself, but visited as a young'n. milt.
