Default Salt water gear

Hi, just joined this group. Have done some fly fishing in creeks and ponds in West Texas. I have the opportunity to go to Texas Gulf, offshore, and fish for trout and reds. Have been told my 4# equip. is not sufficient. Course, can not even buy anything heavier in Abilene or San Angelo. So, what do I look for and what are some good brands that will not break the bank.

Thanks,

wsweet2

Default Re: Salt water gear

Welcome to the group! I've always wondered, is there any good fishing on the Colorado out there, other than where its dammed up into lakes?

For a Salt rod, a Temple Fork Pro series (TiCR if you want something stiffer) 9' 8wt with a Cortland Endurance reel would be a great option. Both will work well on our coast, but be one of the most affordable options out there. fly fishing - fly fishing gear has both and will take good care of you from their location near Tyler.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.
