Bingo to cockatouche!

I'm a huge Tom McNally pusher but I believe the 1978 'Fly Fishing' by McNally is his best work. The later reprints like 'The Complete' were compilations from his earlier works and left out some proprietary content.

I don't believe there will ever be a better 'how to' book published that covers fly fishing from top to bottom. I have recommended this book to countless people but have never had one confirmation that anyone actually went and got a copy. In this hi tech world many believe that you can get this done with a few quick U tube videos................

By the way you've got your first rep points on that post

I just happened on that particular book when I first started fly fishing. I carried that book around with me like a preacher carries a Bible.
I'll have to look for your recommendation. Thanks.

Until I got that book 'Fly Fishing' I was just another kid with a fly rod. I have checked out the 'Complete' version at our local library and found they were not the same. I think as the author was aging the decision to make a compilation work was a way to get one last shot at the market. I noticed that the Complete Book of Fly Fishing was published about 5 years before this great author and fly fisherman passed away in 2002.

In the world of modern fly fishing media you seldom hear his name but I always considered him as one of the greats of American fly fishing. I only wish I had met him during all my travels and the years.
