Default Hello from Baltimore

Hey everyone,

Been lurking for a few days and have been trying to learn as much as I can. Just getting started fly fishing and working on compiling some gear in the hopes of hitting the water early next year. When I say I am new I mean it! However, have done a bit of saltwater tuna fishing over the years. Still waiting on a Cabelas order for line and backing to load up a reel. Purchased a Redington Classic Trout (8' 4wt) and a Greys G1 reel. We'll see how they work out but figured I'd go the clearance route before spending a little more. Anyway, heading out to one of the fly shops in the area later this week to talk actual flies and some beginner casting lessons.

Best,
Jeff

Jeff

Welcome to the forum and the great sport of fly fishing! Sounds like you made some good choices for an outfit! Best of luck with your progress in learning how to cast and to fish. Lots of information on this site if you browse around and use the search function, but if you can't find what you're looking for don't hesitate to ask questions.

I used to live in Baltimore. You should go striped bass fishing. Dont eat them though, that water is disgusting.

You did the right decision to start fly fishing, but be aware that you never can stop it

Thanks, went to Great Feathers last week. Asked a ton of questions and Dave was very helpful especially concerning line, leader, tippet and fly connection.
