Default Complete Newb

Hi all,

I am a complete newb to fly fishing and I look forward to learning a lot here as well as meeting new cyber friends.

I was practically born with a pole in my hands, but I have never really fly fished before. I dove in head first and I decided to start tying my own flies. Thank God for YouTube. Hoping to hop in a stream this weekend.

Thumbs up Re: Complete Newb

Add my welcome but do go back into your User CP and put your general location in same. 'Same question' can have a dozen different answers based on your location. Not to mention what you're fishing for .....

I have a quick question for everybody. I have been using the search button prolifically, but I figured I would use this temporary platform to ask a rank newb question or two. Fishing NC streams for trout with a 5 wt 7'6" rod.

1: Attaching tippet to leader. I am using a blood knot. This is my favorite knot for regular fishing, but is there a better option for attaching tippet to leader?

2: Tippet rings: should I bother with these?
