Default hello all

hope every one had a good christmas and new year. im a big outdoor sportsmen in my home in mississippi. i deer hunt and fish (mainly bait-casting). so im new to the sport of fly fishing. actually im not even new, ive only fly fished once when i visited my girlfriend in colorado this past summer. (she sent me on a guided trip for my birthday.) the guide told me i was a quick learner and picked up on everything quickly. i landed 6 trout (4 rainbow, a cutthroat, and a brown) had a few line breaks, and a few spit out the hook. (not to bad for a first timer i thought.) i will be moving to the great state of colorado in a few months to be with my girlfriend, so i figured now would be a good time to actually begin learning the art of fly fishing before i arrive. will be looking forward to everyone's advice and conversation.
thanks for reading,
bryce

Welcome Bryce. I'm kinda new here too and it's a great site. I live in Fort Collins and have fished the area around here extensively. Be glad to pass along any info that may help you catch fish. feel free to pm me if you have questions. Where will you be located when you get here? There seems to be quite a few on the forum from this area so you oughta be able to get a bunch of info.

Glad to have you aboard

Happy New Year

Steve

well my girlfriend lives outside of vail, in the town of edwards. i am a registered nurse and was looking into doing travel nursing in colorado, so right now i dont know where i will be located. ive visited colorado numerous times; ive skied there and done some elk hunting there and love everything about the state. have you lived there long? how long have you been fly fishing? also thanks for writing and offering help mr. steve, i will take you up on it in the near future.

it may be a challenge trying to get work in the edwards area, but it is a great location for outdoor activities. very close to many great rivers and stillwater, and the riding and sliding at vail/beaver creek are awesome. we've had good snow so far this year. the snowpack has a huge impact on our fishing, so i feel obligated to get to the slopes often to check it out!!

i've been in co since 1970 and have been flyfishing since 1960. i grew up on the cape in ma. so i spent my early years mostly on the salt fishing stripers.

hope everything works out well for you and your girlfriend.

later

steve
