Default New to Site, OLD Fisherman

This is a great looking website. I wanted to expand my horizons and look at becoming a part time trout fisherman.
I began fly fishing in high school back in the '60's on a fishing club pond in North Carolina. My best friend and I still get together to fish.

Now I live in Jacksonville FL and enjoy salt water fly fishing as well as fresh water fishing on the St Johns River. One of my other hobbies is photography, so I'll post a few pics of fishing in the salt marshes around Jacksonville. It should be an unusual change from what most stream fishermen see.

Glad to be here. I enjoy the site.

THAT is a great shot. It looks like you're having a blast down there.

Welcome aboard and pull up a chair. You're going to have to get us through the winter, so keep posting pics and send lots of trip reports.

Welcome aboard and more pics! Love your red fish.
What do you use to catch red fish on?

They come up in the grass to eat fiddler crabs.

We use small (for salt water) dime sized crab imitations. Redfish are not too picky, so any of these will do:

You wade along until you see a tail pop up while the fish is rooting in the bottom for crabs.

When hooked redfish don't run far. Very seldom get into the backing of a 7 or 8 wt but they never quit. Bulldog fish!

If these pics don't show up please let me know. I'm trying something different.

Whiskey

Thanks for sharing and the photos look great. I never fished for reds so I had no idea. We're frozen solid here in WY so seeing those wet wading pictures sure help getting through the winter months.
