Default Hello from Floyd County, Virginia

I have fished all my life, catching many types of fish from farm ponds, lakes, streams, rivers and even the bay areas of Maryland and Virginia. However, I am totally new to the art of "fly fishing'.

I live at the head-waters of Little River where I will have many opportunities to develop at least some elementary skills with the help of you truly skilled "Fly Fishermen and women"

I'm looking forward to this new phase of my life as I roam the banks in my powered wheelchair.

Grayhawk, welcome to the forum, you have a lot of stuff to chase down there- panfish, bass and cats can be a blast on a fly rod, and you have a bunch of trout water down there too.

Make yourself at home, ask questions if you've got em- lots of helpful folks on the board.

Hey Gray Hawk,

Always liked the looks of the Little River for some smallies and red eyes. I'll bet a yellow popper would be a blast over shady holes there. Let me know.

Also we have a pretty active Trout Unlimited (#308) in Roanoke. Meetings are third Wednesday at Center in the Square 5th floor. Just show up or go to their web site, if you want to meet a bunch of good guys. They offer free fly tying classes too.

Cheers from the Bottom of the Mountain!
