Patapsco Valley State Park; McKeldin Area

Took my wife out on the river; her first time fly fishing. She caught a smallmouth on her first cast, and I caught a few sunfish. Saw lots of bass cruising the shallows. The water was clear and cool. Not a lot of people on the trails or in the river.

I don't have a lot of experience in the McKeldin area, however I have been fishing many other parts of the patapsco for over 15 years(Avalon, Marriottsville, Daniels, Oella). I just started getting into fly fishing for bass and have been doing pretty well this summer with smallmouth in the patapsco. Good luck!

I know this is an old thread, but I live in this area and have done quite a bit of fly fishing in the Oella part of the Patapsco. I actually live right on the water so it's nice to step out the backyard and into the river, even if it's mostly just bluegills and sunfish in that spot.

Where in McKeldin is a good place to wade in? I've been there before for the disc golf course and knew it runs along the river, but haven't explored any of the trails yet.
