Default Falling Springs, PA

I fishied this creek about a year ago and was in the Fly Fishing area- upstream from I-81. I recently saw some photos of the creek that looked a lot larger and figured it must be farther downstream in the delayed harvest area which I never checked out. In any event, what is the best areas to fish? The upstream portion I fished only seemed to have access in a couple of spots.

I just came from there. I fished the Edwards access and now apparantly that spot got smaller. A bunch of landowners and TU got together to create Green Ways and there are a handfull of landowners that didn't go along with it. Any spot is as good as the next so long as you get there first! These fish, especially the in the meadow reache,s are spookier than all get out! If you fish behind someone your best bet is to just scout out the location and hit it the next day before anyone else gets there. In town its not so bad as there are stockers and the fish are used to seeing people.

The last time ive been there was this past summer in june....It was middle of the day and hot. I just fish undercuts and weed edges during these times. Right now is hopper time...really productive just make sure you stay well hidden.

This 19.5" brown came on a black sculpin pattern in one of the narrow "shoots" in the c&r section that day.

I'm headed back down there as soon as my laundry is dry. I'm hoping to fish Quarry Rd this afternoon, or Springview although I've heard mixed things about the latter.

Well I got another spanking down there on the Quarry Rd meadows. I did however see one of if not the largest trout I've ever spotted! It was laying in a feeding lane just out from an undercut bank flipping me the fin! I started with a beetle #14 made two perfect difts which kinda suprised me as the micro current can wreek havoc of your presentation. The fish didn't even move. So I sat there for about 20 minutes or so (it felt like hours) and changed up to a cricket made another two drifts with no looks. So I waited again and swam a streamer through the lane, not a nod a tail flicker nothing! So I just sat there and watched more, I could tell it was eatig as I could see her lift up and 'wiggle' every now and then. I decided to rest that spot and hike up through the meadows hoping that maybe something might come off. Well it didn't! I've had countless folks whom I trust tell me the chances are slim to none unless there's a hatch or spinner fall in the upstream meadows but I'm stubborn and would rather fish through the meadows and get spanked than fish the water in town. I'm weird like that and don't like fishing in peoples yards and such even though everyone's friendly and accomadating. So I came back downstream to where she was laying and tried again but she had moved up into a run that you couldn't access without spooking her or trying to walk through knee deep muck. So what did I learn? I need to be less hard headed and admitt that there are fish that don't want to rise and won't chase a streamer, and start tying up some midge nymphs and cress bugs. These fish don't care for impressionistic no matter how good the presentation is, your offerings had better be imitative or head down to the water in town. This is by far some of the toughest trout fishing I've ever experienced but by the time my class is up I'm hoping I'll have cracked the code.
