Default shad run

Was just wondering if anyone has been fishing the shad run. Was able to get out with my bud once on the James River, Va and caught about 50 hickory shad with a few american shad in the mix. Was a good day to have the fly rod out.

Not trying to high jack your post. Being a newbie from Delaware looking for information on the Shad run and where are some good places in DE to fish them. I've been told the Brandywine river but I was wondering if there was any particular spot on the Brandywine which I should go to. Any help would be appreciated...can't let you guys have all the fun.

Here-here (spelling intended) MP. Shad fishing on the Russian River is one of the few things I miss about living there. 6wt rod, clear 'slime line' for a slow sinker, flies made out of chain bead eyes and red or Chart-green Amnesia shoot line tied on silver hooks.

Find one, you probably found a hundred. Well, I never caught that many in a day. 20-30 wasn't all that unusual; if you found them.

Hey Fred,
I usually go up the Yuba River on my friend's jetboat. A lot of times I use my 6 weight Spey rod with a ghost tip casting Scandi style. Some of the holes that we are fishing are no more than three feet deep.
