Default numbers?????

What makes a successful day on the water? I guess I'm a numbers/size guy. I enjoy the outdoors, live on wooded acreage but I do like to slay them last week in landed over 100 trout in 2 days. I was elated. what do you guys consider a good one?

Any day on the water instead of in the office is a good one. I love to catch fish so I'm always happier when I do so, but being out and on the water really recharges my batteries.

Besides, trout don't live in ugly places - in my experience!!

Numbers isn't really what it's about for me, sure catching a few puts the icing on the cake but it's the entire experience that makes for a great day. Watching an eagle or osprey dive for a fish, a mink working the bank or just a soft piece of grass to lay my head down for a quick nap, that's a perfect day for me. If I depended upon fish count to make a good day then my time would be better spent pursuing other hobbies.

I couldn't agree more, sure I love to catch fish, but it isn't the end all, just getting out on the water and enjoying the whole experience is what I live for.

I guess it all depends based on drive time, location etc etc. If I get up early and drive 3hrs to gold medal water my expectations are a tad higher than a 45 minute jaunt to my home turf. As others said some days are just better than others

Zero is frustrating but fine

1-10 is decent but fine

10-20 is great

20-30 is Awesome

40+ is epic

I love them all but I love nothing more than going to Rocky Mt Park in August with a size 18 Hi Vis Adams and having a epic day

As much as I like to think that it isn't about the catching, whenever I find myself hiking along a river or lake, I sure wish I had brought a rod. So being in nature sure is great, it is just a little better if I have a rod in hand. It is a lot better if I have a rod in hand and a fish on the other end! Anything above zero is a great day. But lately I have to be content with saying the casting was fun.

I am a numbers guy also!! It's the number of times I get to go that counts. Fish are just a bonus.

Any day fishing where I don't injure myself too badly is a good one. I even enjoy the times I get skunked. Don't get me wrong, I like to catch 'em. But not catching them never ruins the trip.
