does anyone know of any good flies for winter crappie??

lol, i was about to post the same topic because im going crappie fishing this monday when were off from school. i local lake has loads of crappie. I usually use wooly buggers but other than that i dont have a clue.

I like a weighted wooly bugger size 10 with a bead head and 5 or 6 wraps of lead wire. Chartruse seems to work best in my area but black, brown or olive will catch too. Let it sink and fish sloooooooooooow. Good luck and dress warm. Let me know how you do.

I haven't fished for crappies much but a lot of folks have good things to say about this one. It's an easy tie and is supposed to be very effective, and you can go crazy with all your favorite colors a la crappie jigs:

Crappie Candy Crappie Candy - "Fly of the Week #198 - FAOL"

I'd think a "clouser" tied on a small crappie size hook with marabou instead of bucktail and beadchain or small dumbell eyes would be good too.
