Here's one taste

Wise Use Agenda

Here is one of their core principles:

Wilderness has no economic value, no timbering, no oil and gas production, no mining, no livestock grazing, no motorized recreation."

-- Henry Yake, President, BlueRibbon Coalition,
Times Herald, July 15, 1990.

Here's another

Wise Use Movement

The legal arm for the wise use movement was the Mountain States Foundation who originally challenged Montana's law. Gale Norton was one of their chief counsels before becoming Sec of Interior under Bush.

The idea behind all these people is that NOTHING should be in the public domain. Everything should be private. I'm just amazed that the folks on this board don't realize how long these groups have been pushing to shut down public access to western streams. It is amazing that these groups have been able to demonize the very groups that would support public access. But if you've got the money you can sell anything to the uninformed.

If you want to read up on the "Wise Use" crowd the information is on the net. You want to blame scapegoats and you'll lose.
True, true! It is easy to **** and moan about all the "out of staters" coming in ruining everything - and I've spent too much time doing it myself - but with this bill particularly it was proposed by and supported by a contingent of Montana landowners, ranchers and the same elected officials representatives that will also harp on all the Californians that are ruining everything.

Vote these bums out that don't honestly care about every Montana's rights and values!
