I liked seeing the note at the end of the full article that states land owners with forest roads blocking streams can apply for state help in removing the obstacles to migration.

Somewhat similar to this (another read from a couple of days back) is they're building 'concrete fish ladders' below the mouth of culverts. Appears the process is pretty simple. Just measurements needed, precast and plop in place with a back hoe.

Little bit of stream bottom prep' work so the thing sets flat, that may require hand work, or if appropriate with the same back hoe.

Hi Fred, lots of good work going on now it seems.

Here in the UK, apart from the method you just described they also sometimes take the step of building up a backflow of water below culverts to reduce the drop into the downstream side, allowing easier passage even when the water is running just a little higher rather requiring a torrent to be passing downstream before the fish can leap up into the pipe.

Wonder what the fish think about all this!?

Too funny by half Paul. But after watching Pacific Salmon/Steelhead go up/over full on water falls ...... amazing fish, simply amazing. If you're in Alaska there will/could be Grizzly Bears waiting at the top.
