Free women's fishing clinic in Crystal River
CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. (AP) — Wildlife officials are hosting a free women's fishing clinic in Crystal River.
The event hosted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission runs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday at Fort Island Trail Park.
An FWC statement says attendees will not only take home a lifelong hobby, but they will also leave with a new appreciation for the marine environment.
Participants will learn the basics: knot tying, cast netting, rod and reel rigging, boating safety, how to be a responsible marine resource steward, marine fish and habitat identification, catch-and-release techniques and more.
Fishing equipment and bait will be provided. Advance registration is required, and the event is capped at 20 participants.
