Default a bad day for the Big Thompson....

Of course its also a very tough time for the folks that are living with the flooding in Colorado...

and it also effect nature and its future in a very serious way...The BT is a very healthy and productive stream that is going to be very different in the future...

Colorado Flood Washes Out Highway 34 [PICTURES]

it seems areas below 6,000 feet seem to be hurt the most...

Thumbs up Re: a bad day for the Big Thompson....

"Mom Nature" takes care of Her own. Been doing that for about 3.4 Billion years if memory serves. It's "we" who get in the way?

I think the pic of the debris in the river under the pipeline is just overwhelming...all that stuff belonged to someone up stream...and there is miles of scenes like this.

Looks like one of the major diversion structures/dams was destroyed. Really surprised at how the concrete retaining wall took damage. That wall is a beast, and about 30' tall in places. Never expected it to get taken out...

The dam store is gone. For those that don't know, there was a store there by the mouth of the canyon. Sylvan Dale guest ranch (awesome private fishing) probably took a big hit also.
Local fishing access is going to be tough for while...

I got 'evicted' from the mountains by wildfire about 3 years ago. i miss living in the hills, but right now I am pretty glad to be out in the flat land. An old roommate that was also 'evicted' by the fire almost got flooded out in Lyons. He moved just 12 days before his place was totally flooded. The guy that took his room was stranded on the 2nd floor for a few days.

Gotta hand it to the EMS crews... working long hours in cold wet conditions is exhausting.
