Default Tables Turned on Oregon Fish & Wildlife

Oregon Couple Turns Tables on Fish and Wildlife With Viral Letter - Oregon Live

"When the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife sent a letter to Larry and Amanda Andersen asking if the ODFW could do a survey of foothill yellow-legged frogs on the couple's property, the Andersens said go for it, but with a few conditions, conditions that may look familiar to anyone who has ever applied for a hunting license or an invasive species permit with the ODFW..."

We have divided our 2.26 acres into 75 equal survey units with a draw tag for each unit. Application fees are only $8.00 per unit after you purchase the "Frog Survey License" ($120.00 resident/$180 Non-resident). You will need to obtain a "Frog Habitat" parking permit ($10.00 per vehicle). You will also need an "Invasive Species" stamp for the vehicle ($15.00 for the first vehicle and $5.00 each add'l vehicle). You will want to also register at the check station to have your vehicle inspected for non-native plant life prior to entering our property. There is also a Day Use fee ($5.00 per vehicle).

That's awesome.

The fact that the Oregon F&W said "It may have been more popular within the agency than anywhere else," just gives you a good indication on how out of touch they may be, considering that in order for that letter to go viral, that means it's a lot more popular outside your agency. But let's not try to shove this mess under the carpet.

But good deflection tho! That's the proper method of reversing the truck slowly without drawing attention on how crazy your policies are. I'm glad they think the letter was "creative and well written," but saying that just enforces the fact that your fees are apparently, very "creative and well written" themselves. I guess they missed the point. I love the way the homeowners tried to shed light on the red tape, and the agency responsible has no clue.

They better hope a bunch of Utahans don't show up leading an out of town posse to occupy their land and protect them from the government...
