Hi pronovice,

Thanks for joining NAFFF. I hope you enjoy the Forum and share some of your experience. I don't think you will have members talking down to you. We have several Youth Members and they contribute some interesting information. There is also a new Youth Forum that you may want to take advantage of.

I'll throw a few at you to look up since we're in winter now. I do most of my stream fishing on The Neversink River off of rt.209 in Orange Co. There are other areas of the river that are fishable too, I just haven't fished them.

The Shawangunk Kill or stream in Orange Co. is all over the place coming up and around Rt. 17. I don't know how much fly fishing you'll be able to do, more than myself I'd bet, lots of trees and usually low thin water conditions throughout the summer.

I don't know too much about it but The Esopus is a little further up in Ulster Co. and is suposed to stay cold all summer long due to the NYC resevoir run off. Just have to watch out for the crazy tube people that float down it all summer.

The last place I am thinking of off the top of my head would be the Delaware River up past Port Jervis off of Rt, 97. Beautiful to just hang out in that area, The Hawks Nest section of the road must be one of the best scenic areas in N.Y.

Good luck in your research, hope to see you out there.

Can't help you with tactics or anything like that since I'm just starting out on the long rod this year and hope to find a new obsession.

...Ron
