Default Opening Day Ceremony on the Beaverkill

Just wondering if anyone is planning to go to the opening day ceremony on the Beaverkill. I'm planning to go this year for the first time. Here's a press release from the Catskills Flyfishing Museum with the details.

CFFCM Press Release
Academy Award Nominee Mark Ruffalo to Cast in another NYS Trout Season
Contact: CFFCM 845-439-4810 (flyfish@catskill.net) February 1, 2011
ROSCOE, NY
Season Opener, Saturday, April 2, 2011, 7:30AM, Junction Pool It all starts again. Actor Mark Ruffalo will join the first family of flyfishing, Jeff, Erin, Alicia and Allie Phelan and others for the official first cast of another NYS Trout Season. Come ‘heck or high water’ true fly fishers will gather at the junction of the Willowemoc Creek and Little Beaverkill in Trout Town USA, Roscoe NY to usher in another new season. These are the waters that birthed the American dry fly by Theodore Gordon and a Catskill style tradition that is very much alive today.
Sponsored by the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (CFFCM) and the Roscoe Chamber of Commerce (RCC) it has become a great day in the Catskills drawing fishermen from all over the Northeast. If both weather and fish cooperate, you will find anglers scattered over the most famous and recognized trout streams in the world. It is a full day of activity for the faithful. This year is very important to the area. 2011 will once again see the Dette Fly Shop open for their 83rd consecutive year. The Dettes are the oldest continually run family fly shop in the USA, if not the world. It was the Dettes and Darbees that welcomed anglers every year since 1928 and satisfied their needs with authentic Catskill Style flies.
Attendees to ‘First Cast’ often gather at favorite fly shops and fishing areas before meeting up again at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum to see new exhibits and watch Ted Patlen tie his latest fly creations. This year is a special year and an important one for fly fishing history, with a historic celebration to immediately follow the official season opening.
The day begins with Anglers gathering at 7:00AM at Junction Pool for a cup of hot coffee (provided by the RCC) before the Official First Cast at 7:30, followed by a meet, greet, and photo op with Mark Ruffalo and the First Cast Team. Immediately following there with is a surprise celebration.
Roscoe fly shops and favorite stores, Mary Dette’s, Catskill Flies, the Beaverkill Angler, Frank Kuttner’s and Live Bait will be open and will have specials in place for the return old and new friends. Roscoe artist, Jack Yelle, will once again have a limited edition of his Season Opener 2011 prints available. This will be the third in Jack’s Season Opener series and will be signing from 9-noon at the Center. From 10AM-Noon at the Livingston Manor High School Gym, First Cast Coordinator Mike Canazon and Cane Crew will once again host a bamboo rod casting clinic. If you have never casted a bamboo fly rod, this is a perfect time to flick a few and discover the life and mystique of bamboo.
Make a point to stop in the CFFCM and see the new exhibits, visit with some old friends and chat up some new ones before warming up to a cup of Agnes Van Put’s famous soups at 11:00 AM. The more the merrier. We look forward to seeing you.
Staying that evening??? Don’t miss Trout Town USA’s annual Two Headed Trout Dinner and find out just which way the trout really went. For tickets please contact Miriam 607-498-4139 or Ellen at 607-498-6146

I may get there this year Gadfly if things work out . Even if the fishing isn't good it's nice to catch up with old friends and have a good time.

Great, maybe I'll see you there Allen. It sounds like a good time, and I'm always looking for a good excuse to visit the catskills.
