The Oriskany is a great stream. The West Canada is one of the best around.

Hey Joe, I'm a little west of you in Buffalo (well, 150 miles west...) Where are you moving from?

Joe - I'm just east of Syracuse (30 min from Utica). You're moving to a great area for fishing. As mentioned there is West Canada Creek and Oriskany. There is also a ton of other places within 30 min to an hour of you. Salmon River, Nine-Mile Creek, Cincinnati Creek, Chittenango Creek, Stoney Pond, etc. It all depends upon what you are looking for.

A suggestion: buy the DeLorme Atlas and Gazeteer for NY. It's reduced-size topo maps contain a wealth of information and provides a means for you to go exploring on your own, which, well, can be quite fulfilling. It's a great region to fish (been there, done that, got the hat and actually made the video, lol).
