first time in maine, do i need a guide?
i'm going to maine for a week in august to visit acadia national park, and i'm itiching to bring my gear along. as i'm not familiar with the locale, should i buck up for a day with a guide?

There's a few trout ponds right in the park and further 'down east" you'll find trout in the rivers that run between the lakes, but if it were me, I'd take my saltwater gear.
There's some excellent smallmouth fishing 'down east' as well |

If it were me, and I live here so I know the areas well, I would head to the moosehead region or the east or west branch of the penobscot. And there's also grand lake stream. U don't NEED a guide but it wouldn't hurt. But the locals are pretty friendly so just ask around.

awesome, sorry for such a late response, but i've been busy the last month prepping for the trip! any other good suggestions. i have a week pass so have at it!
