Trout Finshing Near Hanover, NH

I will be in Hanover NH in early August, and would appreciate any suggestions of "local knowledge" and rivers to fish for trout. Thank you very much. Ned

Hey Ned,
There are many options in the area, you should start by planning to visit UpperValley outfitters in Lebanon. They will have a good idea of what is currently fishing well.
As for the spots, the closest is the Mascoma river, it has a nice Fly Fishing only section in Enfield that runs into Lebanon. Also right across the way in Vermont is the White River. The Connecticut River below the Wilder dam does hold some trout, but at that time you are more apt to catch bass. A little further south in the Claremont/Newport/Sunapee area is the Sugar river. All are stocked ( with the exception of the CT I believe). Unfortunately the all of the rivers here are currently very low and warm. Unless July gives us some cooler temps (not likely) and a decent amount of rain I would expect them to be about the same or warmer in early August.

Bill
