Default Trout fishing an hour from Tysons Corner?

Hi,

I'm visiting from Hampshire, England in late July.

Can anyone recommend anywhere I can fish on a stream or river for trout that's within an hours drive from Tysons Corner?

Many thanks.

Potomac River is the closest. No real trout streams to speak of.

You can look at the Gunpowder River which is 90min north or Shenandoah National Park which is 2hr south. Both are fairly popular trout waters.

If you have not been to this area before, I would also consider the traffic. To get from Tyson's to the Gunpowder River would take 3hrs if you get caught traffic.

Big Hunting Creek in Thurmont. You may have to drive fast to make it in an hour... I haven't fished it in decades, but it's one of my all time favorites. C&R. Stealth, long leaders, terrestrials, was the recipe back when I lived in DC.

There are several foot streams around Thurmont and Frederick. I second big hunting creek and will add Owens creek. Maybe a 90 minute drive.
