Default suggestions for 3-4 day back country trip

Does anyone have any suggestions on spots to focus on for a 3-4 day back country camping / fly fishing trip?

i'm not looking for any honey holes here, just general suggestions on waterways to focus on. I am new to this, but my general perception is that a lot of rivers and streams have roads that run along side them... i want to avoid that.

I'm interested in locations (trailheads) in the catskills or ADKs where I can park the car, strap on a backpack with food, a tent, and a fly rod and head into the wilderness for a few days to explore some off the beaten track spots to wet a line. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

thanks

Black Pond Trail system in the Adirondacks . Pretty sure it's Franklin County. Streams and ponds all through the trail system with beautiful Brookies and Bows! You'd need another lifetime to fish all the water in that system!
Hardyreels and Nearenuf like this.

I fished this area with a guide last summer. Well worth the trip. The State of NY does a great job with their trials and campsites.

thanks theboz, i will definitely look into the area/trailhead.

quick question however... alot of my prelim research has had stufff on guys talking about needing a float tube to access remote ponds.

has this been your experience, or do you feel like a guy and a buddy or two can find enough river/pond area with casting space to throw some fliest w/o a float tube?

thanks very much - definitely appreciate the color.

Interesting discussion, I'd love to hear more. I feel like I only find car camping spots on the east coast, or hear of camp spots that fill up very quickly and are six hours away, so any suggestions as to where to camp remotely are much appreciated!
