Default Finally! First one of the year!

It only took 9 trips out, but finally got some slime on the handle. Been trying with no success. I had one take last week but took me by surprise and couldn't get hooked up. Anyway, I decided to try a spot on a small stream I haven't hit in years. Water was shallow, less than knee deep and I wasn't too optimistic. I made my way past some riffles to a nice Little hole and started off with pheasant tail nymph, no looks. While standing there trying to decide what to try, I saw a couple come clear out of the water. Not sure what they were chasing, no real hatch going on to speak of. I decided on an orange stimulator with a prince nymph dropped about 18" back. A few drifts later I hooked a nice stocker brownie on the prince. After the pic and release, I get back at it. Few drifts later one hammers the stimulator. A little bigger, nice pull on the 4 wt. I give him a little line then I see a flash just behind him and the line seemed to get real heavy. Got broke off at the stimulator. I'm not positive, but pretty sure another brown came up and hit the dropper. Probably never happen to me again, but this was a great way to end the day!

Nice, nothing like getting the first one of the year under your belt. Good story as well. Thanks for sharing.
