Joe Gugino will focus on light tackle and fly fishing strategies for targeting Striped Bass and Bluefish from shore, kayak, SUP, and boat on Boson’s North Shore, detailing specific locations, times, tides, approaches and tackle for each situation.
Joe is an accomplished angler, winning the fly fishing division of the NEKF Striper Shootout two years in a row and placing 2nd in the Cheeky Schoolie Fly Fishing Tournament. His company, Why Knot Fishing, is a team of anglers focused on promoting the sport fishing in a positive light and engaging the community in a fun and exciting way.
Cody Rubner is a senior at the University of ME and is currently completing his degree in Marine Sciences. He will discuss the extensive restoration efforts on the Penobscot River in Maine and how his experience working for Maine Department of Marine Resources shaped his approach to fishing. He founded the University's fishing club and competitive bass team, which in their first two placed 3rd and 13th in Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Collegiate Tournament Series. His goal for 2017 is to make it to the FLW’s national championships.
