Default Fly line memory

I was cleaning my fly line today and one of my lines was coiling real bad when I pulled it off the reel. What do you guys do to take out the coils? Also what do you use to clean your lines?

Hello Outdoorarki,There may be and probally are better way's to straighten line and clean it ,but this is my methoed.I use a mild soap like "Johnson's Baby wash",or "No more Tears",soak a face cloth in warm water and put a little soap on it, work it into a lather. Then with your messed up coiled line at your feet while your sitting, find one end and pull through the cloth wich is being held tightly between your knees.Try to keep enough tension on the line that you will clean and straighten out the line at the same time.I repete this twice with the soapy cloth, then once with a dry one.Your line will be clean, dry and uncoiled.Just wondering, are you sure your reel is loaded with the proper amount of backing?.I ask because a small amount of coiling is to be expected, but small tight coils tell me the reel may not be loaded properly.Just my 2 cents that is probally only worth 1.
