Default A DIY Cliff Beast Fly box

So I totally dig the Cliff Outdoors fly boxes. the bugger barn is a nice box and they are really the only company with a good, big box but I feel that 50 bucks for a plastic box with some box is overpriced.

Surfing a saltwater forum ( getting myself into trouble ) I stumbled upon discussion about making your own big fly boxes. So heres what ya get for 9 bucks.

Go buy this.. Quick View Carrying Case-12''X3-1/4''X9.875''*: boxes & bins*: multi-purpose craft storage*: storage*: *Shop | Joann.com

then go to the crafty store by you and by some craft foam, I bought two sheets of 3mm for extra thickness, sheets were 99 cents a pop.

Make a template out of paper, glue the two sheets of foam together, cut, glue into the top and bottom of the box and fill with flies...like such

there is some clear foam still left, I need to tie some more and fill in that gap.

I copied The Beast awhile ago for pike flies. I would swear that those Art Bin boxes are the same as the Cliff's boxes, just a different color.

The longer flies here are about 12" long.

Thank you so much for posting this Geoff. I was organizing my fly boxes today and thought I may need to buy two Cliff Beasts at $50 a piece. Now I can make two for around $30. Again, thank you.

I agree, thank you for the idea! I found boxes sort of like the Bugger Barn at Bass Pro here in Canada for 35 but this is even more affordable. Thanks again!
