Recommendations, Please

Looking for recommendations for two items: One, an airlines-approved handgun case, probably aluminum. The plastic one I now have opened up in the cargo hold on the last trip and they delayed the flight until we went down and put the guns back in (they aren't allowed to touch them).

Two, a backpack for camera equpment. I found a great one that is waterproof, but it's over $400. I mean that's the price of large backpacks. You put some dividers in it and charge $400???

Anyway, I'm looking for recommendations, gear that you have experience with - not links to sites (I can do that myself)
Thank you.

For camera bags/backpacks/belt packs, look at ThinkTank.

I have several of these in different sizes. These people know what they're doing. I've never even had a zipper fail on one of their bags.

Check with you airport on the aluminum case. Last I flew in/out of Pittsburgh, aluminum fly rod cases were a NO...(3 years back in March)

Re: Recommendations, Please

I have a lowepro dryzone. I took it to Kauai to hold my canon dslr and 3 lenses. The bottom is totally waterproof (submersible) and padded. The top holds other gear that can get wet. I carried it onto the plane and it fit well in the overheads.

I haven't used it since that trip in 2008. It's in pretty darn good condition. Been in a storage bin in the garage. I think it's missing a bungie cord that cinches down a section in the back but certainly not needed. All the pads are there and I'm certain I have the lube that you put on the teeth of the zipper.

I've been considering selling it recently and would be happy to entertain and offer.

I just don't use it any longer as I use a waterproof camera when I go fishing.

PM me and make me in an offer, I'll send you photos if you need em.

Lowepro - DryZone Rover

You should be able to find these used on e bay for less than $329
